Old Spanish Days "Fiesta"

August 2-6, 2017

Old Spanish Days Fiesta is about the heart of Santa Barbara’s residents and their passion for life.

This week-long festival was started in 1924 as a way to attract tourists to our city, honor there- opening of the Lobero Theatre, and, to celebrate the reminiscences of old-time Santa Barbara families passed down by their grandparents.

The Fiesta has various events all week. From the Courthouse to the Mission, dancers move to the songs and styles of Californios, Flamenco, Spanish classical and Mexican folklorico.

On Saturday moring the Fiesta parades up Cabrillo and State streets, with groups of Rancheros and their hourses stylisitly stepping in front of floats, while attendies crack confetti filled eggs over the heads of their friends.
