KEYT: Richie's Barber Shop sets up pop-up store after Montecito mudslides closes Coast Village Road
MONTECITO, Calif. - Businesses on Coast Village Road are struggling to survive in the wake of the Montecito muslides.
Shops have been closed for nearly two weeks and owners haven't been able to get to their stores.
Richie's Barber Shop set up a pop-up shop in the back of Jamie Slone Wines on De La Guerra Street.
A mutual friend of Richie Ramirez and Jamie Slone made the suggestion.
"He said, 'what if we took your private reserve room, emptied it and put Richie's in there?'" said Slone. "And it took me two seconds to say 'yes!'"
Ramirez and his employees have been out of work for about a month. First, due to the Thomas fire, and then because of the mudslides.
Ramirez has owned his business for 12 years.
"It's been a struggle," Ramirez said.
Slone said business owners need to help one another.
"People need a reason to smile and have hope and come together and say, 'we are going to rebound from this and rebuild,'" Slone said.
